Artist Biography

Sylvie is a full time illustrator currently living in Auckland with her kiwi husband Dave. She received an MA in Illustration and Graphic Technique from the Academy of Applied Art, Architecture and Design, Prague in 2009. Her work is inspired by traditional printing, and drawing techniques, collages and creative calligraphy used in interesting ways. She creates short stories with humour as well as complex illustration full of atmosphere. Sylvie often works with urban motifs, every-day situations and is interested in the relationship between people and space.

Sylvie's illustrations have appeared in magazines, books, posters and CDs and have been awarded several times including the most Beautiful Book of the Year.
