Biography

Alba is from Barcelona, Spain. She moved to New Zealand two years ago and is currently based in Auckland where she works as an art teacher for kids. She has a Bachelor Degree in Criminology and she used to work as a Lab Technician until she moved to Auckland and decided to pursue a career in art. She’s always been passionate about drawing and painting, so after studying in Browne School of Arts and participating in every single illustration workshop in Auckland, she finally chose to change the pipette for the brush!

She fell in love with children’s book illustration ever since she discovered Quentin Blake reading Roald Dahl’s Matilda when she was a kid. And later on she found Beatrix Potter to be her inspiration.

She loves creating peculiar characters in humorous situations, which both kids and adults can enjoy. She really likes working with different styles and different media and she feels very comfortable trying new techniques.

Alba just joined Sandra Morris Illustration Agency and she’s very keen to combine her teaching with a career in illustration.
